Academic Scholarship

Academic Merit Scholarships

Scholarships are given for proven academic performance in High School.  These scholarships take into account SAT or ACT scores and High School GPA.  These scholarships can range from 20% to 75% of tuition and they are renewable upon students maintaining an acceptable institutional GPA at Providence.  Once a scholarship is awarded students must maintain the appropriate cumulative institutional GPA that corresponds to their scholarship.  If a student's grades fall below the renewability level, the student will be placed on scholarship probation.  Once notified of scholarship probabtion a student has two semesters to bring his or her grades up to the appropriate level.  If, after two semesters a student's cumulative GPA is still below the necessary renewability level, the student will be moved to the next level of eligibility.  Also if a student's GPA falls below a semester total of 2.5 while the student is on scholarship probation, the student's cholarship will be cancelled.  If a student loses a scholarship he/she has a right to appeal to the scholarship appeals committee.  Transfer Students are also eligible for the Academic Merit Scholarships.

* The Academic Merit Scholarship is not predicated on GPA; instead the "GPA Factor" can shift the student's award amount (based upon SAT/ACT scores) up or down depending on where they fall on the scale above their high school cumulative GPA.  The GPA Factor adds or subtracts $100 for every tenth of one point of GPA the student is over or under the GPA Factor indicator, respectively.

** Students must maintain this minimum cumulative GPA in order to maintain the academic scholarship.
