President Job Description

Responsibilities:

1)      Serving as Chief Executive Officer
The President will carry out the directives of the Board of Directors, meeting with them on a regular basis and implementing their policies within the College. The President will ensure the efficient operation and development of the total work of the College. This includes making certain that the vision and purpose of the College is being fulfilled.
 
2)      Supervision of personnel
Several persons report directly to the President. The President will meet with these individuals on a regular basis, directing and supervising their work and evaluating their job performances. Direct reports are:
a)      Academic Dean
b)      Accreditation Liaison Officer
c)      Director of Enrollment Management
d)      Director of Development
e)      Director of Operations
f)        Dean of Students
 
3)      Fund-raising
a)      A sizeable portion of the President's responsibilities will be soliciting gifts from major donors. Consequently, the President could be “on-the-road” up to 50% of the time.
 
4)      Budget development and monitoring
a)      The President will present to the Board of Directors an annual budget in the spring of each year. The annual budget will reflect the strategic long-range plan of the College. The President is responsible for operating the College within the confines of the budget passed by the Board.
 
5)      Representing the College
a)      The President will represent the College with the regional accrediting agency, other colleges, professional organizations, and the state and federal governments.
 
6)      Friend-raising
a)      Church Relations
i)        The President will represent the College at Classis and Presbytery meetings. The President will accept speaking or preaching invitations from churches. The President will seek the counsel of pastors from supporting churches.
 
b)      Constituent relations
i)        The President will promote knowledge and understanding of the College within its supporting constituency through newsletters, correspondence, one-on-one meetings, speaking engagements, and the hosting of coffees and dinners.
 
c)      Public relations
i)        The President will represent the College within the community and state. The President will be the official spokesperson for the College with the media.
 
7)      Long-range planning
a)      The President will supervise the development of a rolling five-year strategic plan.
