We are excited about federal financial aid and the ability to provide Providence students with federal loans and grants. In order to apply for Federal Aid you will need to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) and the VFAO (Virtual Financial Aid Office Application). You can apply for these online at the FAFSA and VFAO websites. Before you begin the online interview and application, here are a few things you should know regarding the forms and your final financial aid award package at Providence.

1. You do not need to fill out the application if you have received only scholarships and the following grants from Providence: travel grant, reformed church grant, supporting church grant. You do not need to fill out the application if you do not want federal aid. We ask that you fill out the FAFSA Declination form stating that you did not want to fill out the FAFSA and do not want to participate in the federal aid program. Fill out the FAFSA and VFAO only if you want federal grants and loans. If you are unsure of your status, please contact the Financial Aid Office at Providence.

2. This process is for application of Federal Financial Aid only! The Department of Education (DOE) provides the first step in the federal financial aid process on the FAFSA website. You will need our school code: 041539. Once you complete the FAFSA, you may e-mail the financial aid office with the estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number from the confirmation page of your FAFSA submission. The amount of financial aid for which this process qualifies you may not reflect your entire financial aid package from Providence. Once you have completed the process, Providence receives a copy and verifies and/or fills in the additional financial aid you were originally given on your estimated award letter. You are now ready to begin your application through the Virtual Financial Aid Office.
