Institutional Goals

Providence Christian College seeks to:

  1. Create a culture of learning in which the Bible and the Reformed confessions that summarize its teachings provide the essential principles, directives, and standards that direct our educational philosophy so that we may glorify God and enjoy him forever
  2. Create a broad liberal arts program in which students exercise intellectual curiosity and pursue academic excellence, in an environment that emphasizes learning in all programs and departments
  3. Create a culture that promotes participation in the covenant communities of family, church, and school through peer and mentoring relationships.
  4. Equip and encourage members of the college community to serve God and neighbor as the Bible directs with a clear sense of their calling for the service of humanity and glorification of God
  5. Practice responsible stewardship in all programs and departments of the college and nurture in students the wisdom and discernment necessary for the fulfillment of God’s mandate for faithful stewardship over the creation and service to humanity

Institutional Student Learning Outcomes

All students who graduate from Providence Christian College, Lord willing, will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the entire Bible
  2. Articulate a Reformed perspective on the core and their major discipline(s)
  3. Demonstrate the ability to think critically by asking questions, evaluating arguments, finding evidence, and drawing warranted conclusions
  4. Demonstrate a basic level of literacy in information, language, technology, and quantitative analysis
  5. Communicate effectively, creatively, and persuasively in a variety of ways- written, oral, visual
  6. Demonstrate active participation in the college, church, and the neighboring community
  7. Demonstrate growth and development in understanding their values and cultural perspectives as well as the values and cultural perspectives of others
  8. Communicate effectively and reflectively with diverse communities
  9. Demonstrate awareness of social responsibility and the pursuit of justice
  10. Demonstrate faithful pursuit of calling for service
  11. Demonstrate accountability and practice responsible Christian stewardship.
