Grants are financial aid monies given to students that the students do not need to repay. Grants are awarded based upon a student's demonstrated need or by their meeting certain criteria. The following grants are currently awarded by Providence:
Federal Grants
PELL Grant
This grant is available to students who demonstrate a financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Application is made by completing the form and releasing the results to Providence Christian College. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Continued eligibility is based on the recipient demonstrating financial need each year according to the FAFSA and maintaining satisfactory academic progress. Amounts vary from $1176 - $5550.
State Grants
Cal Grants
Currently Providence Christian College is unable to participate in the Cal Grant program. PCC will be eligible to apply in July of 2011 and may be eligible to participate in the program for the 2012-2013 school year depending on the application process and approval.
Providence Grants
College Aid Grant
This grant is available to students who demonstrate a financial need based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the Institutional Aid Application (IAA) and the Virtual Financial Aid Office Application (VFAO). The amounts of this grant vary greatly as financial need among families also varies greatly. This grant is renewable for all four years based on a yearly resubmission of the FAFSA, IAA forms and VFAO.
Reformed Church Grant
All students whose home church is confessionally Reformed receive a $500 grant. This is renewable each based on continuing membership. If there is any question regarding church affiliation or Reformed denominations, contact the office of Admissions.
Supporting Church Grant
All students who are members of churches that financially support Providence will receive a $500 grant. This is renewable each year based on continuing church membership and the church's continued support of Providence Christian College. The church must submit the donation to the college by June 30 prior to the studen't enrollment in Providence. Students whose church sends a donation after June 30 will be awarded the Supporting Church Grant in the following academic year.
Travel Grant
A $300 travel grant will be automatically awarded to all students whose home residence is in the state of California and live more than 300 miles from Pasadena.
All students whose home residence is outside the state of California will receive a grant between $300-$800 based on distance from the college. The scholarship amount is determined by the financial aid office and this is renewable based on the declared home residence of the student.
Christian Ministry Grant
Students whose parents or legal guardians are employed as full-time Christian ministry workers will receive a Christian Ministry Grant. This grant is need-based, so the amounts vary. It is renewable upon resubmission of the Christian Ministry Verification Form.
Refer-a-Friend Grant
The Providence "Refer-a-Friend" grant serves to encourage current Providence students to in turn encourage friends and family members to enroll in the college. In order to receive this grant, students must document the capacity in which they know the student and the manner in which they influenced that student to attend Providence. The student recruit must enroll for two consecutive semesters in order for the Providence student to receive the $250 grant.

To Apply: Student must fill out the Refer-a-Friend Grant Form and return it to the Financial Aid Office.

Due Date: April 30 if student is asking for the grant for the fall semester, and December 10 if the student is asking for the grant for the Spring semester.
