I am a California native, born and raised in Bellflower, a suburb of Los Angeles. After graduating from high school, I attended Dordt College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English / Secondary Education. During these years I met my wife, Donna, and we got married shortly after graduation in 1991.
My first job after college was teaching high school English at Bradenton Christian School, in Bradenton, Florida. While in Florida, I began a Master's program at the University of South Florida in English Education. After five years in Florida, my family and I moved back to California, and I began teaching high school English at Calvin Christian School in Escondido. In 2002, I finished my Master's degree in Education from Dordt College. In the summer of 2004, I joined the staff that was assembled to get Providence "off the ground." I have been blessed to work with the administrative team at Providence and to be used by God in this corner of His kingdom. Currently, I am in a doctoral program at Azusa Pacific University.
My role as Dean of Student Life is to oversee students and programs outside of the classroom. This includes a wide range of student activities and services like 4-W experiences, the spiritual life program, and student employment. Apart from my duties as Dean of Student Life, I also teach in the Education department.
Away from Providence, my time revolves around my family. I enjoy spending time with my wife and five children. Donna works at home and does a wonderful job keeping our family running smoothly. I am truly blessed to have five healthy and beautiful children: Kyle, Jacob, Miranda, Adam, and Micah. My hobbies include spending time with my family, reading, and playing most sports (currently -- tennis, golf, and basketball).
