David King serves in the vital role of campus safety/custodian. Four nights a week he makes the rounds of the campus checking doors and ensuring the safety of students (a part-time worker handles security on weekends). David assumed his duties in August 2005 just before the first students arrived on campus. He also assists with maintenance and grounds-keeping responsibilities especially in summer when students are away.
David comes to Providence with considerable security experience having worked in security for employers such as Wal-Mart and the California Speedway and completing security training with two vocational academies.
A member of Ontario URC, David says, “God providentially and mercifully chose to reveal to me the truths of the Reformation through the ‘White Horse Inn’ radio broadcast several years ago during a difficult . . . period of my life.” He was impressed with the idea of establishing a Reformed college and is grateful for the opportunity to support this work.
David and his wife Maria have been married for over 25 years. Their daughters, Jane and Elaine, are pursuing educations in sociology and nursing, respectively. A practitioner of jujitsu and aikido for over 20 years, David teaches at a martial arts school in Norco, California. He is the oldest person in the school and his injuries remind him that it might be wise to pursue a less strenuous and dangerous pastime—perhaps checkers. |
