Apply for Financial Aid

Applying for financial aid at Providence is a straightforward process.  Please follow the steps below.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact the financial aid office at Providence.

  1. Complete the Providence application for admission and accompanying documents.

  2. Familiarize yourself with financial aid terminology (scholarships, grants, loans) Providence's financial aid program, as well as the deadlines for financial aid applications and forms.  Please also review the Frequently Asked Questions.

  3. Complete the Christian Leadership Scholarship application.  Also, contact a reference and provide him/her with the form to complete if you plan to apply for the Christian Leadership Scholarship.  Submit the application and forms to the Office of Financial Aid by February 1 or, if after February 1, as soon as possible. (Scholarship applications will be considered through August 1 for the fall semester.)  The Academic scholarship will be awarded based on your ACT/SAT test score and your GPA.

  4. Your scholarship awards will be calculated in February (or within 10 days after the receipt of your scholarship application and forms).  You will be notified about your award via a formal letter.

  5. Complete the Institutional Aid Application and mail it to Providence by March 1.

  6. File the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form any time after January 1 of the year you plan to enroll.  Providence uses the FAFSA as a norming instrument in the financial aid process.  The college currently does not participate in the federal financial aid program; instead, through generous donors the college offers its own financial aid program.

When completing the FAFSA, you will be prompted to enter the institutional federal student code.  You will need to enter another college's number in this area in order to complete the FAFSA form.

You may choose not to complete the FAFSA form; however, we will then assume that you have the means to pay the full cost of attendance at Providence and your financial aid package will be calculated accordingly.  Please complete the FAFSA Declination form and send it with your other financial aid materials if you DO NOT plan to complete the FAFSA form.

Upon completion of the FAFSA form, you will be sent notification that your Student Aid Report is available.  Please print a paper copy of this document, which will include your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) and send it to Providence by mail or by fax (909-923-5569).

  7. You will be notified of your total financial aid package on April 1 or after.  This official offer must be confirmed by May 1 in order to hold your spot for the fall semester.

* The office of financial aid will work with spring semester applicants on a case by case basis.
