4W Experience: Huntington Library |
|
Location:
Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, CA
Description:
The Huntington Library (www.huntington.org) is a library, art gallery, and botanical garden originally founded as a research institution. The collection of rare books and manuscripts is second only to the Library of Congress in the United States; it includes The Gutenberg Bible and the Canterbury Tales, among many others. In addition to the rare books, the art gallery boasts some of the most famous and recognizable works of art. The Huntington also has a 120 acre botanical garden, which includes a rose garden, cactus garden, and Japanese garden. This is definitely a hidden respite from the busyness of Los Angeles. A challenge at the Huntington is to see everything while still taking the time to "smell the roses."
This 4-W demonstrates the amazing opportunities that Providence students have in developing their cultural awareness and understanding. Los Angeles continues to be an amazing resource that will be used extensively by Providence students ... as they "engage God's world."
