4-W Experience: Baja Service
Anna working hard

Location: Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico

Description:
Each fall Providence students join the Southern California Reformed Fellowship (SCRF) to serve for a weekend in Baja, Mexico.  Providence and SCRF work with the Rev. Dave Crum, an Orthodox Presbyterian Missionary in Tijuana.  During the weekend, the students are assigned various work projects that are needed by the local church, her members, and the surrounding community.  The experience begins on Friday night as we cross the border into Mexico.  Saturday is spent on service projects and outreach.  On Sunday, the students have the opportunity to worship corporately with the local church before returning to Providence.

What Providence students are saying:

  • "I was once again reminded that God's church extends throughout  the world and is beautiful in His sight.  To see the level of poverty and yet a contentment among the people reminded me to be more thankful for what God has graciously blessed me with."       Tim Scheuers, Chino, CA
  • "I learned that we are very blessed.  They have so little, yet they are willing to go out of their way to make us happy.  It is humbling to go to Mexico to serve."         Bethany Van Dixhoorn, Sioux Center, IA
